It’s Friday night in Bangkok, and where should my pal Jack Nites and I be, other than in a nightlife area,quaffing ale and serving wenches?
This time it’s XXX-Lounge in Patpong 2. Mr Nites is doing a quick promotional photoshoot for their upcoming Oktoberfest party. The girls slip into their new costumes and Jack shoots away for a good 30 minutes, coming away with some cracking shots, as you can see below.
Now, I’ve been to the Munich Oktoberfest a few times and I recall the serving staff to be a stout crowd of middle-aged frauen, muscle-bound from hefting litre steins of beer around six at a time. This is er,somewhat different. In front of me are 10 svelte young Thai girls in the skimpiest of uniforms that would not survive a Bavarian autumn, and who look like they could just about lift one bottle of Leo. So, better then!
Whilst my pal is camera to eye, I chat with XXX-Lounge’s managing partner, the hilarious-for-a-German, Chris. “The Oktoberfest in Munich is one of the biggest festivals in the world, attracting over six million visitors from all over the globe. We want to bring a little bit of the Oktoberfest vibe to Patpong. Our lovely ladies will be dressed in traditional and hot Bavarian Dirndl-outfits, and we have great drink promotions all night.”
In 2019 people drank 7.3 million litres of beer at the Oktoberfest. “Maybe we will not be selling that much during our party in the XXX-Lounge”, he continues, “but we are still offering all of our friends and guests a 0.3 litre LEO Draft beer for 65 baht, Buy-1-Get-1-Free for all bottled beers and only 10 baht for a shot of tequila. All night long!”.
The XXX-Lounge is on Patpong Soi 2 and will have its Oktoberfest on October 7th and 8th.
If you have already been to one of their events you know that these guys know how to throw a great theme party, and this is one not to be missed! You never know, Chris might dust off his lederhosen for the occasion!
